At SBB we have three classes in Early Childhood.

• Playgroup which starts at age 3

• Kindy B (pre Kindergarten) age 4

• Kindy A (kindergarten) age 5

We implement a play based curriculum in our Early Childhood program. Play based learning is a big part of the children’s everyday learning. Play based learning draws from the children’s natural desire to engage in experiences based on their interests, strengths and developing skills. When children initiate play, they are more motivated to learn and develop positive dispositions towards learning. The children develop a variety of skills; cognitive, social, language, fine motor and gross motor through a lot of fun activities that occur through play naturally. It allows them to explore, discover, negotiate, take risks, create meaning and solve problems – all the important foundations for developing literacy, numeracy and social skills.
